The AFT Annual Awards Luncheon with U.S. Senator Jon Kyl

Join us on November 5th for our Annual Legislative Luncheon as we present the 2005 awards for the best and worst legislation of the year.  It promises to be an entertaining event, with many of Arizona's  elected officials, including our guest speaker U.S. Senator Jon Kyl.  You will want to be the first to find out the winners of the following:

The Best

  • The Barry Goldwater Legislative Leadership Award -- Recognizes excellence in Arizona's government officials

  • Desert Tiger Award -- The best legislation that promotes Arizona's economic growth

  • Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Awards -- The best legislation that did not pass or was vetoed

  • The Best District Award -- Recognizes the legislative district with the most pro-free market legislators

  • The Irony Award -- Recognizes the outcome was different than what was expected 

The Worst

  • Enron Accounting Award -- The most egregious accounting gimmick

  • The Desert Mirage Award -- The worst legislation to pass

  • The "Say What?" Award -- The most bizarre piece of legislation

  • The Monty Python Award -- The silliest in state government

  • The Vladimir I. Lenin Award -- Recognizes the most pro-big government legislator
